Hockey Night in Canada airs Sunday on ESPN, Fox Sports and ESPN Deportes with Patrick Sharp as host

The NHL announced Sunday it will air a new hockey game Monday night in Canada with Patrick Smithson as host.

The game will be a special, two-hour, three-night broadcast that will feature highlights and interviews from players, coaches and fans from all around the world.

The special edition will be the first time a professional hockey game has been broadcast in the United States since the 2014-15 NHL Winter Classic between the Ottawa Senators and the New York Rangers.

The NHL will also air a special feature from former NHL stars Steve Montador and Bobby Orr.

The show will air on ESPN2 and ESPN3 from 5 to 9 p.m.

Smithson, who is the son of former NHL player and broadcaster Jeff Smithson and played for the Pittsburgh Penguins from 1992 to 2001, has been a regular guest on Sportsnet’s Hockey Night In Canada.

The Hockey Night host also has hosted Sportsnet Radio’s Saturday Night Hockey series on SportsNet, and is an ESPN commentator for the network.
