Weechat explains why he is quitting his job to build an online network for people to collaborate with each other on projects they don’t always work on.
“We want to make the Internet better for everybody,” he says.
“It’s really important to me to help everyone and to be an innovator in the ecosystem that is the Internet.”
Weechats biggest accomplishment to date was the creation of the Weechate Project, a tool that allows anyone to collaborate in the same project, including developers, designers, journalists, and even entrepreneurs.
“The thing that we have is this platform where you can just send a message and the network is all set up to let people interact with each another.”
The company’s most recent major milestone was the launch of Weechatum, a decentralized marketplace for Weechatable, a platform for developers to sell and buy Weechatos tokens.
The platform, which was built in conjunction with the Wechat Foundation, was used to sell more than $2 million worth of tokens in less than 24 hours.
Weechato has raised over $20 million in funding from various sources including the Weemat Foundation.
Wechats latest announcement has more to do with the fact that Weechatz wants to build a marketplace where everyone can sell Weechates products, including digital goods.
“A lot of the things we’re selling on the marketplace are stuff that we think we’re going to be able to sell through our platform, so that’s why we’re announcing that we’re shutting down our platform,” Weechatin says.
The future of Wechate.io is still up in the air, but Weechatt says that it is still an open platform.
“There are lots of different things that we want to do.
There are so many things that the ecosystem is built around.
And the thing is, we want people to participate and make something out of the whole ecosystem,” Wechatin says, adding that he thinks that a marketplace will help drive a lot of innovation and growth in the marketplace.
