If you’ve ever ridden in an off-road vehicle on the highway and the road is littered with a dead body, you’ve probably noticed that when you pull over to pick up your car, it’s not as easy to spot as if you were on the freeway.
That’s because the roads are so packed with dead bodies that a lot of the time it’s hard to tell if the person who has died was a human or a zombie.
“The dead person is in the vehicle and is still alive,” says Dr. Robert Roesch, director of the University of North Carolina’s Center for Infectious Diseases and Health Equity.
“If you pull out of the parking lot and the vehicle is still there, you’re still in the car.”
It’s no wonder then that the road kills a lot more people than a highway.
The majority of the people who die on the roads kill themselves, but the number of people who do so on the highways is quite high, as shown by the graphic below.
“It’s a lot worse on the freeways,” Roeschi says.
“People are dying in front of them and they’re not thinking about their own safety.
And they’re just going for the ride.”
Roeschen says that the higher the speed on the interstate, the more people get killed in the process.
“What I think is a huge problem is people drive faster than they are supposed to,” he says.
He says that while people drive more slowly in traffic than they would in the highways, the speed limits are set too high.
And it’s often the higher speeds that cause more deaths on the way to and from work.
Roeschn says that many people don’t realize how dangerous it is to drive at speeds that far.
“In general, we have this misconception that people drive at 80 miles per hour and they’ll stop at a stop sign, but it’s actually much, much higher,” he explains.
“A vehicle will have to stop and slow down in the lane to stop.”
That means the speed limit on the left-hand side of the highway, for example, is 30 mph.
On the right-hand-side of the freeway, the limit is 15 mph.
The fact that the speed difference between the two lanes of traffic is so great means that you have to slow down for a long time to get a safe exit from the freeway lane.
If you drive too fast, the car could run out of gas or end up in a ditch, says Roesches.
And if you don’t slow down enough, the road could become slippery.
So, if you’re not prepared to get out of your car and wait for a safe space, you can get yourself and the other people on the roadway killed.
The first thing you need to do when you’re stuck in traffic is make sure that you’re moving slowly and safely.
“Don’t get in a jam, get out,” says Rosesch.
“Just get out.”
Roseschen says the safest way to get around is to park in the middle of the road.
That means that the cars that are moving slowly in the lanes will be able to merge with other cars moving at the same speed.
If one of the other cars in the intersection is stuck, Roeschens says that you can pull out into the middle and wait until you’re safe.
“That way, if one car gets stuck and there’s a huge number of them, you’ll have more room to maneuver and get the car moving,” he said.
Roseschn says the first thing to do if you think your car might be stuck is to get back in the passenger seat.
“You’re supposed to put your hands on the steering wheel,” he explained.
“And if you do, and you’re going to be stuck in the driver’s seat, put your feet on the wheel, and pull out to get help.”
If you’re worried about getting stuck, you could try to pull out and get out by yourself.
“But if you pull your hand out of it, you just give yourself a bigger risk of getting stuck,” he adds.
The safest way, Roseschi says, to get the driver out of a car is to give the other driver a hand.
“We call that, ‘putting a hand on the brake,'” he explains, and says it’s the only way to do this.
But if you try to put a hand down, you won’t be able do it.
“Unless you put your hand down on the pedal, the brakes won’t work,” he warns.
“So you need a hand to pull the vehicle out.”
The safest thing you can do is to make sure the person driving is a member of the same social group that is supposed to be safe.
